CONNECTS Medway

12th October 2023

Event Details

Join us at Unlimited‘s first Medway-based CONNECTS event in collaboration with Lyrici Arts, Square Pegs and the Disability/Inclusive Arts Network at GlassBox Theatre.

Are you a disabled artist looking to make industry connections with programmers and producers?

Do you want to meet people interested in programming more disabled-led work? This is the event for you!

At 11am, we’ll welcome you into the space and the event will begin with an introduction from the partners and an overview of who Unlimited are, how we commission and the process of programming work.

After this, we will have structured networking followed by lunch and a panel looking at what barriers are facing disabled artists when it comes to programming.

The event will gently finish around 2:30pm, with around 30 minutes to stay, connect, and ask questions with our teams if you wish.

In order to make meaningful connections for artists with our local partners, this event is open to disabled artists who live in Medway and Kent only.

Access

We know networking can be a challenge for our disabled community, so we’re actively inviting you to let us know your access needs when booking.

Live captions and BSL will be provided for the panel.

We’ll have a traffic light system in place to let people know if you’re comfortable being approached:

Green – I’m confident/comfortable approaching people and having them approach me.

Orange – Please approach me, I’m less comfortable starting conversations.

Red – Please don’t approach me, I will engage when and how I’m ready.

  •

There will be a buddy system in place for those who request it.

There will also be food provided, please let us know your dietary requirements when booking.

Tickets

Freelance artists will be paid to attend and we can cover access and travel costs to attend.

Places are limited and we’re aiming for 50% disabled artists and 50% industry.

In order to avoid ‘first come first serve’, we’ll be operating a random selection from those who register interest by Friday 22 September and identify as disabled freelance artists.

This Eventbrite will take you to another page and ask you some questions to register your interest, including access and dietary requirements.

You will receive a ‘booking’ email from Eventbrite – this email is not a ticket but instead confirms that you have entered the random selection process.

Register your interest today!

We’ll be in touch once registration closes on Friday 22 September to confirm your place.

If you have any questions or need this information in another format, please email fi@weareunlimited.org.uk or call/text 07506 679968.
