Event Details

‘Moon on a Rainbow Shawl’ is a play originally written in 1921 by Trinidadian Errol John. It looks at themes of immigration, the struggles faced by the African Diaspora, faded dreams, and the sacrifices and aspirations of a post-war community living in poverty. The script includes multiple stories, diverse characters, calypso songs, children’s rhymes, and West Indian patois.

In 2014, established UK theatre director Anthony Ekundayo Lennon worked as Assistant Director on the Talawa Theatre and National Theatre’s UK tour of ‘Moon on a Rainbow Shawl’.

This three-hour session offers the unique opportunity to work with Anthony examining sections of the text to break down characters and themes, then to partake in a fun drama workshop where you can bring these ideas to life.
