15th – 17th November 2023

This November, Tangled Feet will be bringing ‘Butterflies’ – a co-production with Half Moon Theatre – to Luton Primary School!

This exciting project has been made possible thanks to the kind support of the Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust, and is an element of Lyrici Art’s three-year project with Luton Arches Local and Ideas Test.

As part of a private, community event, Lyrici Arts are delighted to be sharing ‘Butterflies’ with Luton Primary School.

This captivating and beautiful performance has been developed for children aged 3-8, and explores feelings of anxiety, addressing these challenging emotions for young children in a creative, caring, and considerate manner.

“It is Lyrici Arts and other community organisations that make the real difference to people’s lives.”

The story of Butterflies

Three friends embark on an exciting adventure to chase their butterflies away.  They cross new seas to unchartered lands, on a journey filled with discovery.  The only trouble is they are all a bit worried about it.

“I’ve got a funny feeling in my tummy, it’s a good thing right?”

During their voyage, the group ride the waves, battle the storms and face their fears, before reaching dry land braver than ever before.

Join our intrepid characters as they step into the unknown in an uplifting tale of friendship, courage and facing your fears, told using innovative staging, physicality, touching humour and a specially commissioned musical score.

“Totally wonderful, expressed exactly what my daughter has been feeling.”

– Parent attending ‘Butterflies’

“Butterflies shines a light on the challenging circumstances many young people are living in.”

– Flossie Waite, childrenstheatrereviews.com

Resource pack

The performance is accompanied by practical and thoughtful resources for children that will help them to understand feelings of anxiety. The resource has been designed for children to use independently, or with an adult, supporting their mental health from an early age.

Thank you to our partners

Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust have kindly funded Lyrici Arts for three years, from 2023- 26, to enable our organisation to bring one touring show from elsewhere in the country to Medway, and enable Medway communities to participate collaboratively with these productions.

We chose to partner with Arches Local in the Luton area of Chatham and to deliver a free annual programme of Black and diverse touring theatre. They are a key partner within our NPO bid and we are working with Arts Council Creative People Places organisation Ideas Test to pool resources to support the project.

Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust believes that ‘families’ in the most inclusive sense of the word, are the yarn that creates the fabric of society. Individual families can be delicate and vulnerable at times; but woven together into communities they are remarkably resilient and strong. Their ‘Investing in Families’ programme supports charitable organisations offering interventions to meet the needs of families.

About Tangled Feet

Tangled Feet is a theatre ensemble and a charity.  We create original, visually stunning, transformative performances, sometimes inside theatres but often in other public spaces. We create atmospheres and experiences for the audience which are thrilling, surprising and memorable, which always feel ‘live’ and in the moment, where the unique reality of this audience, in this moment, right here is acknowledged and celebrated. We are a dedicated ensemble and believe in long-term rehearsal and performance history. The company formed in 2003 as a group of like-minded artists and friends with a shared vision, and commitment to a collaborative, physical working methodology. Today, the ensemble has grown to encompass a larger group of 30+ regular artists & crew as well as a broad family of participants, many of whom have worked with us over a number of years.  Tangled Feet create and tour work all over the UK.
